Fondu Cement is a High Alumina Cement. It is an extremely hard and fast setting and achieves its full strength in just 24 hours, it has a working time of approximately 2 hours.Fondu Cement is a dark grey/brown colour.

Key Properties

• Composition: Unlike Portland cement, which is primarily composed of calcium silicates, Fondu cement is a calcium aluminate-based binder.
• Rapid Hardening: It develops high compressive strength very quickly, with operations able to resume just 6 hours after pouring.
• Temperature Resistance: It can withstand high temperatures, ranging from 450°C up to 1250°C or even 1500°C depending on the aggregates used.
• Chemical and Abrasion Resistance: It does not release free lime during hydration, which gives it strong resistance to acid attacks (pH ≥ 4) and abrasion.
• Cold Weather Use: It is suitable for concreting in cold temperatures, down to -10°C. 

Primary Applications

Fondu cement is used in demanding applications where standard Portland cement would not suffice. 

• Refractory Construction: A major use is in lining and repairing structures exposed to extreme heat, such as kilns, furnaces, boilers, incinerators, and ovens (including pizza and bread ovens).
• Industrial Flooring: It is used for heavy-duty industrial floors, shop floors, and areas requiring high impact and abrasion resistance.
• Rapid Repairs and Civil Engineering: Its fast-setting properties make it ideal for urgent or emergency works, road slab replacements, and projects requiring a quick return to service.
• Chemical Environments: It is used in sewage and wastewater systems, agricultural buildings, and chemical plants due to its resistance to chemical corrosion.
